: STAND-ALONE DEIONIZATION SYSTEM
DWS-SADI
MAKE DISTILLED-QUALITY WATER RIGHT ONSITE!
GENERAL INFORMATION:
The DWS-SADI incorporates three different water treatment technologies into one system: (1) dual purpose filter (DPF) to reduce dirt and chlorine; (2) a reverse osmosis membrane to reduce other contaminants; (3) Two DI filters to reduce the water providing low Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) for autoclave use.
The input water enters through the DPF filter, then through the RO membrane, and from the RO membrane the water goes through the DI filters into the DI storage tank before use. The DI water flow has been reduced to 1,000 ML/MIN to allow maximum contact time of the RO water with the DI chemical. A 4-gallon storage tank is added to provide quick filling of the DI containers. The system also comes with a DI monitor that indicates a RED LIGHT, signaling the dental staff that the DI filters are exhausted and should be replaced. This DI water IS NOT TO BE USED AS DRINKING WATER!
WARNING: PURE DI WATER FROM UNIT OUTPUT IS RECOMMENDED FOR AUTOCLAVE USE ONLY. Mineral-free water, whether distilled or deionized, is not recommended for long-term consumption by humans because it leaches minerals from the body.
To estimate the amount of usable DI water that will be available:
STEP #1 - Measure the water TDS from the permeate output of the RO membrane (TDS OM).
STEP #2 - Given the following formula, the estimated amount of DI water available= 31,122 ÷ (TDS OM).
For example, if the measured TDS output from the RO membrane is 30 parts-per-million (PPM), the formula is 31,122 ÷ 30 = 1,037 gallons before the DI chemical is exhausted.

MINERAL MIZER ECONOMICS
Mineral Mizer is economical, producing water for less than distilled water solutions in most locations. TABLE 1 shows the cost of operating all Mineral Mizer models over a 10 year life, excluding acquisition and installation cost. The results are expressed in $/gallon of water produced, allowing a quick comparison against the practice's existing solution.
Many practices balance aquisition cost against gains in efficiency, convenience and staff safety of processing water on-site. However, for practices wishing to evaluate the economics without these more esoteric benefits, TABLE 2 combines acquisition and operating cost to arrive at a similar metric.
